MiG-21 in Czechoslovakia

The MiG-21 fighter entered the Czechoslovak Air Force on the basis of the plan of air force development until 1960. In the late 50s of the 20th century, this type was selected as a counterweight to the F-104 Starfighter, which the German Luftwaffe in the early 60s of the 20th century. planned to put into service. After a bilateral agreement with the Soviet Union, serial production of the MiG-21F-13 version began at the Aero Vodochody factory. As part of the agreement, 4 MiG-21F-13s were disassembled from the USSR in disassembled condition and one sample unit as a whole. These machines were to be used to gain the necessary experience associated with production processes and maintenance. The first Czechoslovak serial piece had the serial number 360101 and was manufactured in 1963. The aircraft was assigned to the airport Mladá u Milovic in the autumn of 1963. Production was terminated in Vodochody on June 17, 1972, when the last machine with serial number 261114 was flown. production company produced 195 aircraft.
